Atchison Hospital, a newly-built (2010) state-of-the-art facility featuring 25 private, family-friendly patient rooms, a nine-bed Emergency Department, and large surgical suites that are built to accommodate video and fiber-optic technology, has an outstanding opportunity for a Vice President of Patient Care Services.  Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to conduct this important search.

This key position reports directly to the CEO and is a part of the senior executive team, with departmental responsibility for Home Health/Hospice, Inpatient Services, Obstetrics, Outpatient Services, Cardiopulmonary, Rehabilitation Services, Social Services, Education, Case Management, Infection Control and Nuclear Cardiology or other departments as assigned by the CEO.

The successful candidate will have a passion for nursing, be focused on quality of care and patient satisfaction. Ideal candidates will be a visionary leader, who provides mentoring, welcomes and seeks collaboration, builds and maintains relationships, is aware of trends in nursing and sees the “big picture”. Appropriate management skills include budgeting, strategic planning, service line management, regulatory compliance, as well as quality/PI and safety programming.  Candidates should have at least 2-5 years of previous nursing management experience over multiple departments.  A BSN is required with a Master’s degree strongly preferred.  Experience with critical access-designated facilities is desirable.

Atchison is a picturesque and historic community nestled in a bend of the mighty Missouri River, with a population of 10,000 that is located less than 40 minutes from the Kansas City area.
