Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas, a 208-bed, faith-based community hospital, has an outstanding opportunity for a new Director of Surgical Services. Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to conduct this key search.
Hospital: This state-of-the-art facility opened in 2008 and is currently in the midst of a $247 million expansion of facilities and services with an anticipated completion date of August, 2019. The project will include a new patient tower (bringing the number of beds to over 300), a new 63,000 square-foot complex with clinics, emergency department and outpatient surgery center, as well as additional clinics throughout NW Arkansas. Among the achievements received by the hospital are the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval in both hip and knee joint replacement, designated as a Chest Pain Center, and was named “Most Wired” by the AHA.
Opportunity: The director is responsible for administrative oversight of the entire perioperative services, to include 10 main OR’s (will move to 16-18 with the expansion) and a two-suite ASC. Volumes are greater than 11,000 annually. Case types include customary plus CVOR and bariatrics. A neuro service line will be added with the expansion (one physician already hired). Direct reports are four managers with a total staff compliment of nearly 200.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is one who has great communication skills, works well with physicians and co-workers, is a visible leader, is patient-centered and has the ability to lead perioperative services through the growth in service lines and volumes. A minimum of three to five years of previous perioperative management experience is required. A BSN is required and a Master’s is preferred.
Location: Rogers is part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Metropolitan Area, one of the fastest growing in the nation, with over 465,000 residents. Here you will discover museums like the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, live music at the Walmart AMP, and charming shops and restaurants along brick-lined streets in the historic downtown—all just a stone’s throw from fishing, water sports, biking, hiking, camping, boating and breathtaking views of nearby Beaver Lake, nestled high in the Ozark Mountains.
