Interim Director Perioperative Services presents with 26 years of nursing experience in the operating room with over 11 of interim leadership spanning ORs encompassing from three to 19 surgical suites and covering all perioperative services in both unionized and non-union settings.

 

She describes her personal clinical strength as founded in orthopaedics and the trauma team in the OR.  She mentioned good, applicable personal knowledge of OR operations in all areas except open hearts.  She commented that her administrative skills include good budgeting, staffing plans, construction and remodeling management, operational assessment and compliance with accreditation and best practices.

    • As the Interim Director of Surgical Services. I was in charge of day to day operations of Surgery, Central Sterile Services, PACU, Outpatient Surgery Pre-op and Post-Operative areas. I functioned in the capacity of circulating and a scrub tech during this time and I took call for the operating room as well as the PACU.
    • My expertise in the area of Surgical Services helped to accomplish their Joint Commission Accreditation in December 2018.
    • While I was employed at ELADH I reviewed and updated all the policies and procedures in surgery, created new polices to reflect current Joint Commission and CMS as well at State regulatory standards.
    • I updated and organized Central Sterile Supply to improve inventory in the department. Surgical Service lines included Ortho, General Surgery, Eye cases, Podiatry, C-Sections, Gynecology and Endoscopic procedures.
    • There were two OR suites and one GI procedure room, the average per month was increased from about 70 cases per month to approximately 140 cases per month with 20 FTE’s.
    • I restructured staffing patterns for more efficiency and to eliminate overtime in an attempt to increase the OR volume for each month. Functioning in all capacities was necessary during this position to improve this operating rooms productivity.
