The candidate presents with a history of 17 years in surgical services, including nine as an interim leader.  His overall experience encompasses academic medical centers, mid-size community hospitals and critical access facilities.  He brings experience in union and non-union settings.  He has led staff ranging in size from 30 to 120 FTEs, who support care in from four to 20 surgical suites.

 

Describes his personal clinical strengths as broad with hands-on experience in a wide variety of case types, with a clinical interest in neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopies and CV services. He pointed toward his clinical comfort working in and out of rooms, observing processes/procedures, scrubbing and circulating while coaching and mentoring staff, as well as touching-base with surgeons. He described his administrative strengths as solid budgeting and project management skills, acute knowledge of compliance techniques and solid communication skills.

 

The candidate described his management style as transparent, collaborative and team-driven, as well as centered on patient care and operational observation. He mentioned his preference to include staff in decision-making and policy/procedure and process evaluation and revision. He said he has strong experience in Studer management and leadership techniques and includes many of its pillars in his management style.
