The candidate presents with over 40 years of nursing experience, 23 of which are in leadership positions.  Over the last 14 years, she has been exclusively an interim/consultant, including a number of CNO/senior nursing leadership engagements.

 

Describes her clinical strengths as very broad-based, with trauma, women’s health and medical-surgical as areas of interest. She reported her administrative strengths include budgeting, controlling costs (especially labor), planning and executing process and quality improvements, assessing operations and quality of care, as well as developing and implementing nursing education initiatives.  She focuses on employee engagement and likes to involve staff in finding solutions.  She has developed specific processes to accomplish this, complete with accountabilities as well.

 

She talked about her management approach as transformational. She likes to use metrics to identify and quantify improvements in processes and quality, while establishing and enforcing accountability. She likes to empower staff, foster teams and promotes shared governance where possible.  She communicates formally on a regular basis and is a daily rounder.  She self-describes as accessible, open, visible, fair and patient-centered.
